Oman- Over 3,000 new jobs created in North Batinah since January

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The Ministry of Manpower, represented by the Directorate General of Manpower in North Batinah, in cooperation with companies carrying out development and construction works in the governorate has helped provide more than 3,000 jobs to citizens in technical, administrative and occupational fields since the beginning of the year.

The hiring process is being followed up by the ministry's recruitment directorate.

This was announced at a meeting attended by Mahfood bin Hamdan al Wahaibi, director general of manpower in North Batinah, and officials of companies working on development and construction projects in the governorate.

The meeting discussed Omanisation plans of these companies and the number of staff hired during execution of new projects.

Companies that took part in the meeting include the Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), which is working on the Batinah Expressway (package six, extending from Asrar Bani Omar till Khatmat Malaha in Shinas) and Larsen & Toubro, which is working on the Batinah Expressway project (package four, extending from Wadi Bani Omar in Saham till Wadi Hibi in Sohar).

CCC will be providing several job opportunities. It has also been assigned to upgrade the Al Falaj Roundabout in Sohar, which will take 18 months.

Wahaibi said, ''The governorate is witnessing more job opportunities in engineering, management and technical areas.''

He said that the companies have been urged to complete interviews of jobseekers, in coordination with experts in the directorate.

''These companies have agreed to conduct the interviews at the hiring centre of the directorate, under the supervision of the recruitment department, where they would be carried out in a transparent manner.''

He added, ''Once a citizen accepts the offer, he will immediately join the company. A team will follow up on the signing of the work contract. Another team will follow up on the conditions of the workers at their workplaces to ensure that these companies adhere to the conditions agreed upon and to the Omanisation contract, as well as the Omani Labour Law. The teams from the directorate of labour welfare will check the commitment of these companies to the clauses of the Labour Law. They will also follow up on the work of the labour unions in North Batinah governorate and carry out inspection visits to work sites, factories and companies.'
