(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) BankDhofar participated as one of the sponsors of the 14th Industrialists' Conference held recently under the patronage of H H Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq al Said, Representative of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
Titled Industrial Exports “ Opportunities and Challenges', the two-day event discussed various issues pertaining to the state of export industries in GCC countries and Yemen, the major challenges the industry faced and submitted recommendations on ways to increase potential. ''BankDhofar's support of the 14th Industrialists' Conference is part of our continuous endeavour to develop more efficient channels for exports and implement policies conducive to fostering an environment of cooperation.
The event also gives us the opportunity to see how best we can improve our products and create better efficiencies to support the industrial sector,'' commented Kamal Hassan al Murazza, deputy general manager of Wholesale Banking .
The event was organised by the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting GOIC in collaboration with the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates PEIE, the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development in Oman PAIPED and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry OCCI; and in coordination with the Secretariat- General of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Federation of GCC Chambers FGCCC.
The two-day event was also held with the participation of the GCC ministers of industry and the Oman Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Some important recommendations put forward during the conference were to adopt procedures and policies to enhance trade between the GCC and Yemen; encourage research and development to raise the quality of national products and enhance the role of SMEs to promote industrial exports.
The event also submitted proposals pertaining to integration among member states; maximising the potential of foreign direct investment; optimising benefits accrued from existing WTO agreements in relation to exports; and developing a national strategy to grow industrial exports.
The Gulf Industrialists Conference hosted by GOIC member states in rotation every other year, is one of GOIC's most important achievements since its foundation in 1976. The first event was held in Doha in 1985, and, subsequently, these conferences have been contributing in developing private and public industrial sectors in GCC countries
