(MENAFN) The European Commission (EC) said that it decided to claim back USD435 million of EU agricultural policy funds claimed "unduly spent" by member states, Xinhua reported
EU member states are responsible for paying out and checking expenditure under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), while the commission is responsible of ensuring correct use of the funds by member states
The Commission said that the funds claimed back under the so-called clearance of accounts procedure
The funds will be recovered from 11 member states, including Denmark, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Finland and Britain
