(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Peugeot is increasing the appeal and exclusivity of its popular RCZ Sports Coup with an updated and redesigned 2014 model. Emboldened by its market success less than four years after its commercial launch, the signature sports coup from Peugeot has adopted a distinctive new identity to embody and embrace the motion and emotion ethos of the Peugeot marque.


Sensuous and sleek, sporty and elegant, its new style promotes power and fluidity, strength and refinement, and affirms a distinctive singularity in the Peugeot range. ''This new restyled RCZ fully embodies the signature of Peugeot: Motion and Emotion. It is the most visible expression of the Marque's expertise with its stylish design, high quality and strong dynamic standards that perfectly balance ride and handling,'' said Gurdeep Singh Multani, brand manager for Peugeot.


''In this very specific market segment of sports coups, the 'enthusiasts' of performance cars seek a distinctive style identity and are always on the lookout for the latest, most attractive creation around a radical coup. This is why it is necessary to renew and improve, responding to the constantly moving trend of the market.''


Peugeot has also chosen Novak Djokovic, a tennis icon, as its international brand ambassador. With this partnership, Peugeot confirms and strengthens its strategy in the tennis world, in a year that also marks the 30th anniversary of the partnership with Roland Garros, the French Open. Novak Djokovic was quickly recognised as the world N2 in tennis having already won the Australian Open four times and won both the US Open and Wimbledon in 2011.


In addition, the Serbian player has also won forty-one singles titles and sixteen Masters 1000 series titles throughout his career. He is a player that perfectly embodies the Peugeot brand's values of: Excellence, Allure and Emotion. Commenting on his partnership with the French automotive brand, Novak Djokovic said, ''I'm happy to represent a great French automobile manufacturer, recognised throughout the world, with an industrial history going back 200 years.


In my eyes Peugeot embodies French elegance, refinement and the expression of a certain art of living.'' As the ambassador for the brand, he now drives the new RCZ as his personal car, a vehicle that is the perfect compliment for the sport he so eloquently represents. The rejuvenation of the RCZ can be seen first of all through its style. A completely new front face, sporty and flowing, fully emphasises the power of its rear wings and the sensuous curves of its 'double-bubble' roof.


This union between the front and rear gives the bodywork an entirely new expression. The central air intake, now subtle and elegant, is enlivened by two satin chrome bars and provides the effect of strength and refinement. The new grille is accentuated by a lower air intake which is extended on each side by a unique light signature, visible both day and night. This consists of six LEDs, subtly sculpted in the form of claws, behind a smoked lens which blends into a gloss black surround.


The new RCZ adopts an expression with flowing contours, both modern and technical, with new directional Xenon headlamps with a Titanium background. The new appearance provides the RCZ with an aggressive feline stance: well poised as well as having a unique identity, combining enhanced power and sensuous expression.


The interior has evolved as well to enhance features in detail, in particular the gear lever surround which is now lacquered black and the door trim pads are trimmed with leather inserts, and two aluminium inserts adorn the dashboard / centre console. The RCZ has always been very practical, with a generous volume boot for its category, having a capacity of 384 litres, to which are added storage compartments under its floor (more than 30 litres extra).


Folding the back of the two additional rear seats increases the maximum carrying capacity of the vehicle to 760lt. The new RCZ is now also fitted as standard with an acoustic windscreen and a visibility pack consisting of automatic wipers, automatic headlamps, electrochromatic interior mirror, guideme- home lighting and approach lighting on unlock. The rejuvenation of the RCZ is also expressed through a new enhanced option range that includes lacquered black grille bars, Matt Black roof arches, two Carbon Roof options, and an enhanced range of colours.


The RCZ takes the requirement of driving with precision and obtaining sensations to the highest level for the Marque, to intensify all of the driver's senses. It benefits from tuned suspension and wheels whose effectiveness is increased thanks to a particularly low ride height, a low centre of gravity and widened track.


The active rear aero spoiler also contributes to this performance, deployed in two positions according to the speed of the vehicle to ensure aerodynamics and stability. Under the hood of the RCZ is a 1.6lt inline-four engine producing a 163hp and 230Nm of torque, and is coupled with a special lower bracing bar to enhance road handling, making it more agile and aiding cornering stability.


The 'acoustic signature of the engine' has also been enhanced aided by 'Sound System' technology. It amplifies the characteristic sound of the engine through a controlled diaphragm that resonates and the vibration noise is louder as the revs of the engine rise during acceleration, while being less pronounced with more regular driving.
