Oman- Thin Red Line Ball raises RO2,500 for Down Syndrome support group

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Thin Red Line Ball, a charity dinner organised annually by British Armed Forces personnel based in Muscat, has raised RO2,500 for the Down Syndrome Parent Support Group (DSPSG).


The event was held at Grand Hyatt Muscat on March 21 on the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day.


''The charity dinner was able to raise RO2,500 for DSPSG. Every year, a charity organisation is nominated to receive the support, and this year, it was DSPSG,'' said Richard Bailey, assistant sponsorship director, Thin Red Line Ball.


He said that interest in the event has grown with each year. ''This year, 372 people attended the event. These included diplomats, privates sector executives and Royal Army of Oman personnel.''


Ahmed bin Mohammed al Jabri, chairman, DSPSG, was the chief guest on the occasion.


Every year, Thin Red Line Ball looks for a main sponsor who chooses its preferred charity organisation. ''We were glad to have Driver Group as our main sponsor this year, and their preferred charity organisation was DSPSG,'' Bailey said.


DSPSG is the only group in Oman which enables parents of children with Down Syndrome meet and exchange ideas and experiences. The group works under the umbrella of the Association for Early Intervention for Children with Disability. However, it does not receive any
