(MENAFN- Kora) Jankovic became the highest-ranked scalp of bouchard's fledgling career with the 20-year-old canadian winning 6-3 4-6 6-3 in charleston.
Bouchard won five of the last six games to set-up a semi-final meeting with german 14th seed andrea petkovic at the wta premier event.
In the opening set in south carolina bouchard broke jankovic in the serb's last three service games to take the set in 36 minutes and the canadian sixth seed looked set for a straight-sets triumph when she claimed a break and a 4-3 lead in the second.
But jankovic won the next three games to level the match.
Bouchard also claimed the first break of serve in the third set but did not let the serbian second seed back into the match again holding in her next game to lead 4-2 and then breaking jankovic for the sixth time in the contest to triumph in just over two hours.
The win was another big step for bouchard this year after the world number 20 made the semi-finals of the australian open.
Petkovic will be bouchard's next opponent after the 26-year-old german trumped czech ninth seed lucie safarova 6-3 1-6 6-1.
Swiss qualifier belinda bencic continued her stunning run with a 4-6 6-2 6-1 win over italy's third seed sara errani.
Bencic reached the first wta semi-final of her career adding errani's scalp to that of maria kirilenko marina erakovic and elina svitolina in charleston.
Errani looked in control after taking the first set and sitting at 2-2 in the second but bencic won the next nine games to level the match at a set apiece and surge to a 5-0 lead in the decider.
The 17-year-old eventually won in one hour and 56 minutes and will take on slovakia's jana cepelova for a spot in the final.
Cepelova crushed compatriot and 12th seed daniela hantuchova 6-2 6-1.
