Eye of the Emirates celebrates Sharjah Islamic Culture Capital 2014


(MENAFNEditorial) Eye of the Emirates, one of the most prominent landmarks in Sharjah and the highest Ferris wheel in the region, has joined the Sharjah Islamic Culture Capital 2014 celebrations, by displaying the official logo of Sharjah Islamic Culture Capital 2014 in a bid to promote the event and encourage visitors and tourists to explore the activities organised in the Sharjah in celebration of the Emirate's various civilizational, intellectual, and cultural achievements



The official logo of the Sharjah Islamic Culture Capital 2014 represents and celebrates the diversity, richness and openness of the Islamic culture, through its shape and fixed lines. The logo's regular quadrilateral shape symbolises Islam as a comprehensive religion, which provides a holistic and integrated approach to life. The emblem is composed of the name of the event via a creative use of letters, colours, and geometric elements to signify the diverse events and activities which will be organised this year.



Sultan Mohammed Shattaf, Al Qasba Manager, said "The Eye of the Emirates Wheel is one of the major tourist attractions in the emirate of Sharjah and the UAE, and the first of its kind in the region. It attracts an increasing turnout of visitors and tourists who desire to enjoy bird's eye view of Sharjah from a-60 meter high capsules, while exploring Al Qasba's integrated tourist, entertaining and family oriented facilities that combine leisure, culture, art and business.



He said that through this participation, the Eye of the Emirates intends to celebrate the selection of Sharjah as the Capital of Islamic Culture, highlight the official logo of the celebrations and invite Sharjah's residents and tourists to visit Al Qasba where they can explore an array of diverse activities throughout the year and enjoy the Eye of the Emirates Ferris Wheel experience which gives panoramic view of the urban and architectural landscape in Sharjah and serves as a unique means of entertainment for all members of the family



The 60-metre-high wheel gives visitors a chance to view Sharjah, as well as parts of Dubai and Ajman, from its 42 air-conditioned cabins. Since it was launched nine years ago, the Eye of the Emirates has become an increasingly popular choice and a favourite destination for a lot of visitors and tourists, and now stands as one of the major attractions in Al Qasba – home to various local and international events and activities throughout the year.
