Germany's Lufthansa cancels 900 flights on strike


(MENAFN) German airline Lufthansa has cancelled over 900 flights on the first day of a three-day strike by the pilots' union, according to Qatar News Agency



The airline is expected to cancel up to 3,800 flights altogether, adding that 425,000 passengers would be affected by the stoppages, said the airline's spokeswoman Barbara Schaedler



The airline says that it has sent 100,000 text messages and emails to people who have booked on its flights in an attempt to prevent chaos at airports.
