Telangana leader tries to play native' card to woo voters

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Telangana rashtra samithi (trs) president k chandrasekhar rao sought to play the ?native? card to woo the electorate stating that the new state of telangana which comes into existence on june 2 does not need a government of parties from another state

Addressing a huge gathering in his native medak district late tuesday evening kcr as the trs chief is known popularly said: ‘the people of telangana should vote for a native party to form the first government in the new state.’

The remark is an obvious reference to the telugu desam party (tdp) led by n chandrababu naidu and the ysr congress (ysrc) headed by y s jaganmohan reddy both seen as parties of seemandhra region besides the congress. simultaneous elections to the lok sabha and state assembly will be held on april 30 in telangana and on may 7 in coastal andhra and rayalaseema.

The trs since its inception in 2002 was in the forefront of the separate statehood movement with the sole agenda of division of the state. and now with telangana becoming a reality kcr has been trying to impress upon the people that it was because of his party that the state was divided and hence by right it should form the government to ensure development of telangana.

‘tamil nadu west bengal and odisha are governed by jayalalitha mamata banerjee and naveen patnaik respectively. why should telangana not have a government formed by a party of its own?’ he said. stating that corruption was the bane of society and the cause of underdevelopment kcr said he will not rest till he stamped out corruption particularly in the political system.

‘as a son of the soil and a person who achieved telangana i will not rest till corruption is weeded out. no one will be spared and even if my son or daughter indulges in corrupt practices they will be put behind bars’ he said. taking potshots at former deputy chief minister damodar raja narasimha who hails from medak the trs president said: ‘there is large-scale corruption in this constituency. millions of rupees have been misappropriated. if we come to power we will order an inquiry into the corruption charges in the constituency’ he said.

Blaming the successive tdp and congress governments in the past for the backwardness in telangana and their faulty policies for the power cuts and farmer
suicides kcr said his party
would waive farmers’ loans up to rs 100000.

Touching a raw chord yet again in claiming that there would be no options for government employees from seemandhra working in telangana particularly hyderabad he assured the telangana youth not to worry about jobs since there would be plenty of vacancies once the andhra employees leave after the division of the state. ‘telangana government employees will be paid salaries on par with central government employees’ he said.-news?khaleejtimes.com
