(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Gcc tourists are very important for germany as they are one of the highest spenders during their stay in the country

More than 1.5 million overnight stays by gulf travellers marked a new all-time record for germany in 2013 showing a 20 per cent growth over 2012 according to a top official of german national tourist office (gnto).

On the back of record visitor numbers from the arabian gulf gnto the local affiliate of the german national tourist board (gntb) in dubai concluded a road show ‘dallal fi almania 2014’ meaning feel good in germany 2014. the road show ended on tuesday in dubai after stopping in kuwait city and abu dhabi.

“we have total 21 partners — representing the accommodation attractions tourism services transportation and healthcare services sectors at the road show” adnan ben abdallah marketing & sales manager at the gnto in the gulf region told khaleej times on the sidelines of the event.

Gcc tourists are very important for germany as they are one of the highest spenders during their stay in the country ben abdallah added. “we’ve seen unabated growth over recent years and are pleased that the gcc is now germany’s fourth-largest non-european tourism source market” he said.

According to figures from the federal statistical office outside europe only china the united states and ssia accounted for more visitors to germany in 2013. a further increase of 19.1 per cent was registered in the first month of 2014 as compared to january 2013 with 85362 overnight stays by gcc travellers to germany.

“given the family-oriented demand characterising this important region the gnto and its partners aimed at providing with this year’s workshop theme a more detailed view on the multitude of offers that make germany the ideal holiday destination for arab families and young travellers” ben abdallah said.

“for spending a holiday together as an arab family germany is the perfect destination. visitors of all ages will love going to theme parks water parks castles museums and fun pools getting close to nature in the national parks and engaging in active pursuits such as cycling swimming and walking; moreover young people will find that travelling to germany is simple safe and affordable and there are lots of special offers. getting around is quick and easy thanks to the excellent roads and the superb infrastructure for coach and train travel” he explained.

Gnto has been promoting germany extensively in the gulf region over the past years showcasing the country’s diversified tourist offerings and launching various initiatives for the travel trade and local media representatives.
