Kuwait- 'Business family' wins landslide


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The 'business family' won a landslide victory against their opponents in all available seats in the elections of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, without leaving a single seat for an outsider. Dherar Al-Ghanim topped the contestants with 3,277 votes, followed by Sayer Bader Al-Sayer who won 3,118 votes, while Fahad Al-Jou'an garnered 3,106 votes



Other winners in the contest were Hussein Al-Khorafi, Abdul-Wahab Al- Wazzan, Khaled Al-Saqer, Khaled Al- Meshari, Abdullah Al-Mulla, Waleed Al- Dabous, Wafa Al-Qattami, Khaled Al- Mudhahakah, Mohammad Abdul-Redha Kakouli and reserve member Yousef Al- Fulaij



The winners coasted home 4,715 votes out of the total 5,840, representing 80 percent victory. Earlier, former National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Khorafi declared the elections of Chamber of Commerce and Industry was strong proof that Kuwait is rich in democracy, and varieties of opinions and economic ideologies



He said the business family enjoys the spirit of cooperation, especially as the private sector protects free economy always. He indicated economic activities in Kuwait operate under high level organization that gives rays of hope in the best interest of Kuwait. He hopes the spirit will be sustained to put Kuwait ahead of its peers
