Bravo slams sledging australians

(MENAFN- Kora) The aussies' dead-rubber win over hosts bangladesh overnight counted for nothing after they were sent packing with a last-over defeat to the west indies on friday

But the defending champions from the caribbean charged into the world twenty20 semi-finals with a spectacular 84-run win over pakistan in a key super 10 match

When asked why the windies were subdued in their celebrations compared to the win over australia on friday bravo told the reporter: "you know why."

He then slammed australia for its apparent excessive sledging throughout the t20 competition and said knocking australia out of the tournament was extremely satisfying.

"we wanted to prove a point to the australians that we are all cricketers and we are all human beings and we should respect each other" he told a post-match press conference.

"we have young kids looking up to us as cricketers so i don't see the sense in trying to sledge a team like us it actually gets us going.

He said australia's bullying tactics backfired.

"west indies is not a team you should try to upset" bravo said.

"we compete very hard but we play fairly. we play with a smile on our face and whether we win or lose it doesn't matter as long as we have a good cricket game

"the australians... they deserved what they got.

In the two recent test series south africa and england also complained about australia's sledging.

The west indies who finished second behind unbeaten india in group two will clash with group one winners sri lanka in the first semi-final in dhaka on thursday

India who won all their four group matches meets south africa at the same venue on friday.

The final will take place in dhaka on sunday.
