Qatar Rail deal for hassle-free services

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Aiming at avoiding traffic congestions due to frequent movement of heavy vehicles, Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) and Qatar Mobility Innovations Centre (QMIC) have signed an agreement to allow the railway company usage of QMIC's 'Masarak Platform and Services' for traffic monitoring, logistics management and road safety

The partnership will enable Qatar Rail to deploy and fully utilise the platform and its integrated transport and logistics services and applications, as well as recruit experts and professionals to monitor traffic conditions, coordinate and manage contractors' fleets' movement to reduce traffic congestion, and promote road safety practices among all fleet drivers and stakeholders.

Saad Al Muhannadi, CEO, Qatar Rail, said, "Qatar Rail is striving to ensure the least amount of disruption to traffic in Qatar during construction of Doha Metro. As we have unique requirements in the areas of traffic monitoring, efficient logistics operations and road safety, we are pleased to work with a local organisation to contribute to the creation of knowledge-based industries in Qatar through our adoption of the Masarak system and services.

As part of the deal, QMIC will design, build, operate, and maintain a Logistics Transport Coordination Centre (LTCC) at Qatar Rail's premises to monitor operations round the clock. The Masarak-enabled LTCC will be staffed with traffic experts to deliver key services and intelligence to minimise the impact of logistics operations on traffic in Doha, make recommendations and take actions if necessary. LTCC will be ready and operational later this year.

Dr Adnan Abu-Dayya, Executive Director and CEO, QMIC, said, "This significant contract represents a clear validation of our strategy to develop and deploy differentiated intelligent systems and services that can best meet the unique requirements of national partners and customers.
