Canada's BlackBerry profit drops in 2013


(MENAFN) Profit and revenue of the Canada-based BlackBerry saw a significant drop, resulted from transitions from a smartphone company to a software business under its new chief executive, according to the Daily Star



The company's shares boosted 5 percent in morning trading. However, the company lost as much as USD423 million



Its revenue dropped to USD976 million, its lowest since 2007



The BlackBerry has been hammered by competition from the iPhone as well as Android-based rivals
