Begum zareen musharraf the 95-year-old mother of ex-president of pakistan pervez musharraf remained admitted to the icu on the second day on sunday said her doctors.
On saturday the aged mother of the former military ruler was rushed to w.w. wilson hospital in sharjah after she developed heart issues that caused breathing problems. a spokesperson for musharraf’s all pakistan muslim league (apml) party said that zareen suffered from breathing issues brought on by her heart condition.
Dr qais abdul latif zubairi senior consultant cardiologist at the hospital where she is being treated said: “she is still critical and under observation in the icu. she has other chronic illnesses which we are trying to treat” he said.
“we cannot allow her to be shifted to another hospital since she is not yet that well” he added. doctors also said they were unable to say how many more days she would require hospitalisation because of health complications related to her age.
Begum zareen had been rushed to hospital a couple of days ago as well but had recovered. musharraf’s wife sehba is accompanying her mother-in-law at the hospital.
A high-profile treason case is currently being held against the 70-year-old musharraf. he is barred from travelling and is currently in a military hospital in the garrison city of rawalpindi in pakistan. he has avoided appearing before the special court citing medical and security concerns.
Musharraf is facing charges of challenging the pakistan constitution in 2007 when he imposed emergency rule and fired top members of the judiciary.
It was not clear if musharraf would be allowed to travel to the uae to see his sick mother. “it depends on the government and court” added the spokesperson.
