UAE- Dh29 million green motel market for Hatta

Tourism in dubai’s mountainous village hatta is set to get a major fillip with the dubai municipality’s project to build a “green” motel and heritage market getting approval.



Shaikh hamdan bin rashid al maktoum deputy ruler of dubai uae minister of finance and chairman of the dubai municipality has approved the hatta heritage inn and market project which will be completed at a total cost of dh29 million the civic body said on sunday.


Located on the main road between hatta and oman in an area of 92500 square feet the hatta heritage souq and motel is expected to be operational in the second half of 2015. the project has been awarded to a multinational construction company and the implementation will begin within a few days.


As many as 46 stores and three main restaurants with direct view of the valley adjacent to the building and beautiful surroundings form the ground floor of the building. other amenities such as prayer rooms toilets and administration office are also on the ground floor.


The first floor comprises a multipurpose hall 32 hotel rooms and two suites that overlook the neighbouring valley. from many of the hotel rooms visitors can enjoy the whole view of the market through the corridors opened directly to the market on the ground floor. a total of 100 cars can park around the market and a special parking area is allocated for tourist buses.


The dubai municipality has been keen on the design of the project to apply all green building standards so as to ensure that the building will be an eco-friendly one using environmentally friendly building materials.


The implementation of this project comes as part of the keenness of dubai government to meet the service requirements to the society in various fields so as to ensure the provision of quality service.


The project also aims to develop a commercial complex for entertainment featuring a range of professions and traditional activities with a modern and trendy approach to reflect the spirit of the past and present as well as a heritage landmark and prominent tourist attraction in hatta.


Tour operators who offer tour services to hatta welcomed the project and said it would benefit the tourism sector in a big way especially because there is only one private resort in hatta and no souqs.


“this is really a good project. it will definitely help tourists and tour operators. sometimes some tourists would want to spend a night over there and they have only one option now the hatta fort resort” said mohammed yaseen who works with the company desert team tourism.


Another tour operator said hatta receives more tourists during the summer due to the presence of the wadis in the village. the heritage souq will be a good tourist attraction where tourists can enjoy a brief stopover and purchase traditional items he noted.— sajila?khaleejtimes.com
