Younes Kaboul ensured it was a horror start for Tottenham as the defender scored an own goal in as early as the 2nd minute to give Liverpool the lead. Another mistake, this time by his partner Dawson, allowed Premier League's leading goal scorer Luis Suarez through on goal to score his 29th goal for Liverpool in the Premier League this season. The goal is a landmark for Liverpool because it meant that the Uruguayan has scored more goals in one season than any other Liverpool player ever could in the history of the Premier League. Suarez is also two goals short from holding the record for scoring the most goals in a premier league season. Liverpool's other two goals came courtesy of Coutinho in the 55th minute and Jordan Henderson in the 75th minute. Both goals came from shots from outside the area.
