Qatar- Al Emadi: HH The Emir approves biggest budget in Qatar's history - 3


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Some QR15.7 bn was earmarked for the health sector, showing an increase of 12.5%, the minister said, noting that the increase reflected the attention being accorded to strategic programs to ensure better health services. The increase included allocations for completing Sidra medical and research center, finishing projects of Hamad General Hospital and establishing the labour hospital as well building 19 new health centers, including 6 that are already under construction. The lion's share in the budget went to infrastructure projects in order to complete some schemes that are under way and to start construction of 8 new playing fields for the 2022 World Cup championship. Work will start on 7 new fields in Wusail, Wakra, Al Khor, Al Rayyan, the new airport, Khalifa Stadium and the Qatar Foundation, Al Emadi said. Allocations have been allotted for the transport sector, the major foundation for sustained development. Hence, funds have been set aside for completing the Hamad International Airport and the new Doha Port , the rail and metro projects and completing roads . The present electricity and sewage system network is being upgraded to cope with the growing urbanization, he noted. Furthermore, some QR3.3 billion was set aside for houses for citizens, an increase of 18% against least year to complete the construction of 3700 units and build new 2300 units for 6,000 citizens. Estimates for the 2014/2015 budget show a surplus of QR7.3 bn, Al Emadi said, despite a rise in expenditure and stable oil prices. The surplus will be used to support the reserve of Qatar Central Bank and to help Qatar Investment Authority explore for investment opportunities in world markets
