(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The annual gathering of contractors registered with the Distribution Code Review Panel (DCRP) was held on Sunday at Grand Hyatt Muscat under the patronage of Mohammed Abdullah al Mahrouqi, chairman of the Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW).
The meeting discussed the registration requirements and applicable standards of DCRP, which is authorised to review, discuss and develop rules governing electricity distribution in the sultanate.
Eng Hamad bin Salim al Maghdari, head, DCRP, said, ''Conditions adopted by DCRP aim to raise contractors' level of performance while complying with safety and security requirements.''
When asked why contractors and suppliers describe the registration requirements and applicable standards as difficult', Maghdari said, ''The terms and conditions of DCRP are considered to be difficult by contractors only at the beginning.
The conditions help them to raise their standards and enable them to compete with local and international companies, and creating world-class companies helps develop the private sector in the sultanate. DCRP plays an important role in Omanisation in the electricity sector, and is committed to its laws and regulations. Occupational health and safety laws should be followed.''
