Just a way sped away with a sensational sprint finish to leave would-be challengers trailing in his wake and comprehensively smash the track record in the us5m dubai duty free.

The japanese horse began badly and was held up in midfield for the majority of this 1800m (nine furlong) run on the turf with blazing speed educate the fugue and tokei halo all prominent up at the front. however just a way put in a peerless performance down the home straight to outclass all of his potential rivals crossing the line a considerable six and a half lengths ahead of the runner-up vercingetorix in just 1:45:52s.

“he didn’t start well. he wanted to take the midfield position but followed (christophe) soumillon’s horse (vercingetorix)” said just a way’s jockey yuichi fukunaga.

“but when i got to the straight he quickened very well as i thought he would.”

Naosuke sugai the trainer of just a way added: “we had two tactics; one was to get in a good position from gate two or plan b was to sit behind in midfield as we did in the tenno sho. the jockey (fukunaga) went for plan b and gave him one of the best rides i’ve seen.”

Soumillon and vercingetorix’s trainer mike de kock had few — if any — complaints about the result with both men admitting their runner had simply been beaten by a better sort on the night.

“i thought i’d win when we turned for home and i was speechless when the japanese horse came flying past me” soumillon conceded. de kock commented: “i thought ours ran a huge race but — like everybody else — i was left gobsmacked by the winner. without him we would still have broken the track record.” dank came in third with an impressive run for jockey ryan moore after an extended break from racing and she led home mshawish (fourth) anaerobio (fifth) and logotype (sixth).

“i am delighted with her” moore stated. “i was caught in traffic. she finished really well and should have finished second. she’s run a great race first time out in five months.”

Godolphin’s hunter’s light finished eighth between tokei halo (seventh) and stable-mate tasaday (ninth) whereas blazing speed (10th) the fugue (11th) trade storm (12th) and educate (13th) made up the back markers.

“i’m speechless” said william buick the fugue’s rider. “i cannot explain it. i’ve never known her like that. she ran very flat. we’ll just put a line
