Doha International Airport Reports 12.45% Passanger Growth


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Doha International Airport (DIA) today announced a significant increase in its February 2014 passenger footfall to 1,973,823, representing an overall 12.45% growth compared to the same period in 2013. These latest statistics are part of an on-going trend at DIA with monthly year-on-year growth, underlining Doha's ever-growing importance as an international hub. February cargo traffic also increased by 12.69% at DIA as it continues to service the ever-growing global market that has fuelled its massive expansion. Qatar Airways Cargo continues to deliver convenient and flexible solutions for its clients, highlighted with the recently announced commercial agreement between Qatar Airways and IAG Cargo. Abdulaziz Al-Mass, Senior Public Relations and Communications Manager, at DIA said: "DIA is seeing continuous growth across its entire portfolio from passenger numbers and aircraft movements, to its mail and cargo traffic. As Qatar continues to grow as an important hub for regional and international transport services, our focus remains on providing a seamless and hassle free experience for our passengers and clients." In addition to growing passenger and cargo numbers, inbound mail traffic increased by 13.8% compared to February 2013 and aircraft movements grew by 7.04% year-on-year. To ensure passengers are provided with a comfortable, safe and enjoyable travel experience, DIA management has implemented a range of measures to significantly improve its infrastructure and manage capacity. This includes additional check-in gates, more aircraft parking bays and expanded terminal facilities.
