Royal Oman Police News Two arrested for providing illegal VoIP services in Oman


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Directorate of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations at the Police Command of North Batinah governorate has arrested two Asians for illegally selling international calls via VoIP.


Officials of the directorate also seized telecom devices including a computer, fixed and mobile phones and a printer used to run the illegal services.


They were also found selling porn films and tobacco products.


They have been referred to the Public Prosecution for trial. ROP has asked citizens and expatriates to report about such violations to the nearest police station.

Five Asians arrested for stealing cables in Sur


Five Asians were arrested for stealing electrical cables by the Directorate of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations at the Police Command of South Sharqiyah governorate.


Officials at the directorate in cooperation with the Special Task Force arrested the accused in the wilayat of Sur.


They also recovered stolen cables from a vehicle owned by them. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.


ROP has asked companies to hire guards to protect their premises from thefts.

2 nabbed for smuggling khat


Sleuths of the Directorate for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances have arrested two persons for smuggling and possessing khat.


An official at the Police Command of Dhofar Governorate said that sleuths had received information that huge quantities of khat was being smuggled into the sultanate via sea route.


''The accused were arrested from Al Dahareez in the wilayat of Salalah. Officials also seized 820 packets of khat from them,'' he added.

Five arrested for burglary in Oman


Sleuths of the Directorate of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations at the Police Command of South Batinah governorate have arrested five Asians for burglary at a mobile phone shop in the wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali.


An official at the police station in Jaalan Bani Bu Ali said that a citizen had reported that goods worth more than RO2,000 were stolen from his shop.


The accused were arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution.

Muscat airport security course concludes


The Directorate General of Airport Security recently concluded a course on airport security. Officials of at least 11 directorates affiliated to the Directorate General took part in the course.


It included lectures about issues related to airport security.


The second part of the course saw participants visiting Muscat International Airport to understand various aspects of security measures.


They also visited the building of the Oman Airports Management Company.


The closing ceremony of the course was held under Brig Gen Ali bin Abdulla al Marhoon, director general of airport security.
