Kuwait- Teams formed to prosecute people caught in possession of firearms


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Ministry of Interior has started forming teams of criminal detectives to arrest and take necessary legal action against anyone found in possession of a firearm or any person caught taking photos while holding firearms at weddings or other occasions, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Security sources said the decision is based on the widespread phenomenon of youths and children drawing out firearms and posing with them in private event and ceremonies, indicating countless accidents have been recorded as a result, and so the security agencies will be monitoring people with weapons to arrest and deal with them based on the law.



Sources added that criminal detectives have been roaming Sulaibiya and Taima areas, in an attempt to arrest two individuals involved in the two shooting incidents. They added that detectives have managed to identify the faces of the first two suspects through video clips posted on various social media networking sites.



They explained the detectives are about to arrest all suspects who appeared in the video while shooting was going on in both areas, and once the culprits are in the hands of the police, detectives will pursue those who give out or sell firearms to individuals.



Sources affirmed that the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior Sheikh Muhammad Al-Khaled is personally monitoring recent developments and has called for all security personnel to be watchful and vigilant to enforce the rule of law and protect the country while providing security and stability for the people.



Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lt General Sulaiman Fahad Al-Fahad will receive Kuwaiti citizens and expatriates with complaints at 8:30 am on Tuesday at the ministerial headquarters in Sharq area. According to a press release, such a step is based on directives issued by the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled. The meeting is in line with the strategic plans laid down by the Ministry of Interior and open-door policy so that the public can interact with Lt General Al-Fahad regarding recommendations, inquiries and complaints about their transactions that are pending at various government sectors



Those sectors include General Traffic Department, General Department for Citizenship and Passport Affairs, General Department for Reforms, and Sentences Execution Department. Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passport Affairs Major General Faisal Nawaf Al- Ahmad, Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali, Director General of Reform Institutions Major General Khaled Abdullah Al-Dayyen, Director General for Immigration Brigadier Adnan Al-Kandari, Director of Public Relations and Moral Guidance Colonel Adel Al- Hashash, among others will be present at the meeting
