(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Omani artists Saud al Hunaini and Hussain Obaid will hold a joint exhibition titled ‘Embodiment of Omani Heritage' at the Bait Muzna Gallery on Monday.
Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, secretary general in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be the guest of honour at the exhibition. It will showcase 44 pieces of works including paintings and sculptures. The artists completed the work in one and a half years.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Hunaini who will showcase 24 works said, ''This is for the first time that I am participating in an exhibition with Obaid. I am showcasing sculptures for the first time and six of them will be on display.
''I learnt the art form in Italy and also got the idea of my works from my brother. The sculpture on racing is one of my favourites.''
Hunaini said that he did research on the subjects before putting up the exhibition. ''I was awarded His Majesty the Sultan's prize in 2008.''
Obaid will showcase 20 of his works. ''My works deal will subjects like culture and environment. They brilliantly capture horse and camel riders as well as spectators,'' he said.
Obaid said that he prefers using colours like yellow and brown. He emerged a winner in an exhibition organised by the Oman Society for Fine Arts last year.
He has held several joint exhibitions in Oman, Middle East, Europe and North America.
Meanwhile, Sayyida Susan al Said said, ''I would like to focus on the theme ‘Embodiment of Omani heritage'. ''It is important to know that Omanis are connected to the country's environment, nature and culture. The displayed works highlight this tradition as it is still relevant in modern Oman.''
