US consumer spending, personal income increase in February


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) US personal income, disposable personal income (DPI) and personal consumption expenditures (PCE) recorded a 0.3 percent increase in February, official data showed here Friday



The Department of Commerce indicated that personal income increased USD 47



7 billion, DPI increased USD 42.3 billion and PCE increased USD 30.8 billion in February



In January, personal income increased USD 41.3 billion, or 0.3 percent, DPI increased USD 40.3 billion, or 0.3 percent, and PCE increased USD 20.0 billion, or 0.2 percent, based on revised estimates



Real DPI increased 0.3 percent in February, compared with an increase of 0

2 percent in January. Real PCE increased 0.2 percent in February, compared with an increase of 0.1 percent in January



In addition, purchases of durable goods increased 0.1 percent, in contrast to a decrease of 0.4 percent, whereas purchases of nondurable goods increased 0.3 percent in contrast to a decrease of 0.9 percent. Purchases of services increased 0.2 percent, compared with an increase of 0.5 percent



Meanwhile, personal income increased 2.8 percent in 2013 compared with an increase of 4.2 percent in 2012. DPI increased 1.9 percent, compared with an increase of 3.9 percent, while PCE increased 3.2 percent, compared with an increase of 4.1 percent



Real DPI increased 0.7 percent in 2013, compared with an increase of 2.0 percent in 2012. Real PCE increased 2.0 percent, compared with an increase of 2.2 percent
