India military plane crashes, 5 dead


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) An Indian air force plane, Super Hercules C 130-J, crashed in Indias north-western state of Rajasthan leaving five officers dead, defence ministry spokesman said Friday



The spokesman said the Indian Air Force aircraft crashed in Karoli district of Rajasthan today when it was on a routine training mission



"One C-130J Aircraft of the air force crashed 72 miles west of Gwalior airbase on 28 March 2014. The aircraft was airborne from Agra at 1000 hrs for a routine flying training mission," the spokesman said



The crash left five officers dead including two Wing Commanders, two Squadron Leaders and another crew member. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the accident India had bought six C-130J aircraft at a cost of USD 1.1 billion three years ago. They were recently inducted into the India air force to augment its military capabilities.
