(MENAFN - Arab News) A Kuwaiti woman was shot in the head allegedly by a police officer on Al- Ghous Street in Salmiya, reports Al- Rai daily. According to informed sources, the police officer, who belongs to the ruling family, was patrolling Salmiya area with another officer from Hawally Security Directorate when they suspected a vehicle and requested the driver to stop. However, when the driver ignored the orders and sped away, securitymen chased him

Eventually, the vehicle stopped on Al-Ghous Street after patrol teams, which were summoned by the chasing securitymen, surrounded them. They discovered that the driver's wife was shot in the head and was unconscious. She was rushed to the nearest hospital where she was admitted in a state of coma

Meanwhile, the officers arrested the husband, accusing him of shooting her but he denied the charges. He insisted that he was running away from the police because he had some drugs in his vehicle. During investigations, the detectives realized that a 9mm bullet was fired at the woman, prompting them to question the two securitymen who were chasing the couple's vehicle. The officer from Hawally Security Directorate confessed that the other officer with him had fired the gunshot. Both officers have been detained for further investigations
