Myanmar aims for 5 percent GDP growth


(MENAFN) The president of Myanmar called for efforts to achieve a gross domestic product (GDP) target of over 5 percent, Xinhua reported



The president said that achievements have been made in economic market policy, attracting foreign investment and establishing Special Economic Zones



He said that foreign investors mainly focused on the country's mining sector before lifting sanctions on the country. He added that the ratio of investment has changed and investment flows into construction and industrial sectors



In 2013, foreign direct investment in the country hit USD3.5 billion, injected into manufacturing, hotel and tourist sectors, increasing from USD1.4 billion the year before it
