Kuwait- Cabinet backs Public Authority for expat hires


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Council of Ministers, in the last executive meeting chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, took a decisive decision on the expatriate workers recruitment file by approving the concepts presented by Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Subaih, reports Al-Anba daily. A source was quoted as saying the concepts were meant to set off the wheel of Public Authority for Manpower to block the loopholes exploited for human trafficking through visa trade. He declared the concepts proposed by the minister would help resolve all issues relating to the expatriate workers, while evaluating the needs of employers based on the labor market

The Cabinet has agreed on the need to appoint the Assistant Undersecretary for Employment, Civil Service Commission Advisor Ahmad Al-Rumaeh as Director General of the authority, which will solely be in charge of recruiting expatriate workers for private and oil sectors based on the demand of employers. He indicated the management board of the authority will be formed soon, indicating Minister Hind Al-Subaih and director general of the authority will serve as chairperson and deputy chairperson respectively-with membership of the representatives from governmental agencies that will operate as assistant undersecretaries plus three experts
