Ecuador, EU hold Trade Agreement for Development talks


(MENAFN) Ecuador and the European Union (EU) have opened the second round of talks toward the Trade Agreement for Development, Xinhua reported



The Ecuadorian Foreign Trade Ministry said that the talks will focus on issues of public purchases and intellectual property rights



The EU is Ecuador's second largest market for non-oil exports, thus making a trade deal with the EU very important



The foreign trade minister said: "Ecuador continues to be the largest exporter of fruit (bananas) to the European market, despite the fact that there are competitor countries which have better access conditions to that market.
