Abu Dhabi's Zayed Sports City Revenue up 12% in 2013


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) United Arab Emirates' (UAE) sports and entertainment venue Zayed Sports City Monday announced a 12% growth in revenue and 20% rise in visitors to 1.2 million for the year 2013.

Zayed Sports City forms part of the real estate and infrastructure portfolio of Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi-based investment and development compan



Mubadala Real Estate and Infrastructure Executive Director Ali Eid Al Muhairi said, "Mubadala is helping to develop the physical and social infrastructure required to support a modern and rapidly evolving society in Abu Dhabi.



Zayed Sports City is an essential part of this process." Established in 1979 with the opening of the Zayed Sport City Stadium, Zayed Sports City was created to fulfil the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to create a world-class sports complex that reflects the UAE's passion for sport



Thirty-five years later, Zayed Sport City, home to 28 sports, is now a 1.2 million sqm development which encompasses the 43,000 seat national stadium, 14 multipurpose grass pitches, a 5,000-seat ATP standard tennis stadium with eight additional courts, a 40-lane bowling centre and an Olympic size ice rink as well as nine multi-purpose hard and soft surface courts, state-of-the-art fitness facilities and multiple FandB option



In 2013, Zayed Sport City hosted 143 events, up 43% from 2012
