Kuwait - Ministry to cut power supply to some areas in Hawally this week


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Ministry of Electricity and Water will cut power supply from some areas in Hawally within this week, calling on the citizens and expatriates to cooperate with the authorities for their own benefit, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting sources. Sources revealed the areas affected by the decision include Jabriya, Surra and Adailiya



However, the sources did not mention the reason behind the disconnection of power supply. In another development, sources said the ministry has warned against the poor storage of bottled water as it poses a grave threat to the health of consumers. Sources confirmed the ministry has advised the cooperative societies and markets to keep cartons of water in a safe place, asserting it will continue holding surprise inspection campaigns to protect the consumers. Sources added previous inspections led to the discovery of expired bottled water while some were stored in unhealthy conditions



Meanwhile, Controller of Capital Municipality General Meshal Al-Azmi says Kuwait is suffering from a serious problem over difficulty in moving garbage crusher to some areas, reports Al- Seyassah daily. At the sideline of a workshop titled 'Cleaning Contracts' that was organized by Kuwait Municipality for the employees of municipalities in GCC countries on Sunday, General Al-Azmi said the problem started through failure in considering this aspect while signing contracts with the concerned companies.



Regarding the workshop, he explained that its objective was to discuss efforts to implement international standards especially since "the level of cleanliness is the yardstick for measuring the beauty and progress of countries". He declared that the municipalities in GCC countries were planning to use workshops and training courses to prepare different recommendations, which will be forwarded to the concerned officials for implementation. General Al-Azmi said the idea will meet the expectations of citizens and expatriates of GCC countries, while the municipalities will benefit from the sharing of experiences



Projects

In another development, Director of Hawally Health Zone Dr Khalid Abdulghani declared that some projects of the health zone are nearing completion such as Al- Sadiq Medical Center in South Surra, which will be inaugurated within a month. He also indicated that the Dialysis Center, which is located behind Mubarak Hospital, will be inaugurated within two months, adding that the center was built with the donations received from three of the heirs of Sheikh Mubarak Al- Abdullah, reports Al-Nahar daily. During the 'Awareness Day' organized by the Diabetes Department at Mahmoud Haidar Center on Thursday, Dr Abdulghani stressed the importance of organizing such events to spread awareness about the dangers of diabetes and various methods of its prevention. He stressed that diabetes is a non-infectious chronic disease that affects people of all ages and has dangerous side effects.



Meanwhile, MP Nabeel Al- Fadel has asked State Minister for Housing Affairs Yasser Abul to shed light on the alleged violations in the appointment of Mussa'ed Waleed Al-Tabtabaei to the Public Authority of Housing Welfare; in addition to sending him abroad to complete higher studies and granting him financial privileges without justification, reports Al- Rai daily. Al-Fadel urged the minister to explain why Al-Tabtabaei has not been instructed to return the unjustified financial privileges granted to him. He also wants to know what steps were taken after the authority notified the Ministry of Higher Education regarding the issue
