(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The Muscat Municipality represented by the Directorate General of Roads is implementing a project to build an intersection flyover on the Muscat Expressway in South Ma'abela.
The four-phase project includes construction of a flyover and several entry and exit points for vehicles passing through the Muscat Expressway.
It will be linked to the Al Salam Street between Al Khoudh and Ma'abela. The project also includes extension of the flyover to the cemetery in South Ma'abela.
In addition, the road connecting village of Al Khoud (al Bilad) to Saih al Khadah which passes through Wadi al Khoudh will be paved. Culvert boxes and water drainage network will also be constructed in Wadi al Khoudh.
''The flyover project is expected to be over by 2015,'' said an official from the Muscat Municipality. ''The project will also provide citizens of South Ma'abela with additional entry and exit routes besides the existing ones near junction 12 on the Muscat Expressway and also at the Al Salam Street (Ma'abela-Al Khoudh) and Seeb Public Road,'' he added.
The project once completed will improve the quality of road network and ease traffic movement in the area. It will also have a positive impact on the economic and urban movement in the region.
The implementation of this project by the Muscat Municipality comes in response to demands by citizens to open new lanes to resolve the problem of traffic congestion in Ma'abela and neighbouring areas.
