(MENAFN -Khaleej Times) bani yas returned to winnings ways by defeating emirates in the arabian gulf league at the bani yas stadium in al shamkha on sunday night

Bani yas came into this game after three losses on the trot. and despite not able to call on the services of three of their four foreign signings bani yas won 2-1.

Salim saeed put bani yas ahead on 14 minutes but emirates equalised through german gustavo herrera from a penalty on 28 minutes. nawaf mubarak then scored the match-winner for bani yas on 57 minutes.

Bani yas remain ninth on the table with 27 points while emirates are 12th with 17 points from 20 games.

Bani yas had lost to al wahda 3-2 away before suffering a 2-0 reverse to al nasr at home. they then went down to league leaders al ahli 4-1 away.

Bani yas took the lead on 14 minutes through salim saeed who headed past goalkeeper abdullah moosa after a jasim jawhar marzooq cross was pushed away moosa.

But emirates drew level on 28 minutes through a penalty after wanderley sousa was brought down by abdulsalam al mukhaini. german gustavo herrera made no mistake from the spot.

Bani yas could have retaken the lead on 34 minutes but mohamed jaber failed to make contact after nawaf mubarak’s corner was headed by mohammed fawzi.

Emirates thought that they had taken the lead on 54 minutes when luiz henrique slotted it home. but it was ruled off-side.

Bani yas then took the lead three minutes later and preserved it to win the game. dead-ball specialist nawaf mubarak fired in a curling left-footed freekick which sailed over the wall before dipping into the net.
