KO joins hands with Nokia to develop Discover Oman mobile application


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Knowledge Oman (KO) has partnered with Nokia to develop an app that will allow users to search for places to visit in Oman, read about the country and look at pictures and videos uploaded by other users.


The app, which will be named Discover Oman, will be available on all Nokia Lumia handsets.


Speaking about the project, Tariq al Barwani, founder and president of Knowledge Oman, said, ''We are very pleased to collaborate with Nokia on this initiative. This project will help people within the country and around the world to learn about the beauty, culture and rich history of Oman.''


He added that he will be visiting colleges and universities to teach students how to use the app. ''Training will also be offered on how to locate, add and update places on the map, which includes pictures and videos,'' said Barwani.


Salma Massoud, head of app marketing, Nokia, said ''Oman is home to historical landmarks, mountains and wadis with scenic views, giving a cultural experience to tourists. We are excited to be leading an initiative that will make Oman interesting in a unique way through mobile technology. This is our way of giving back to the Omani community which has supported Nokia for more than 20 years.''
