New Dead Sea Community Football Pitch Opens - Courtesy Of Hilton Worldwide and INJAZ

(MENAFNEditorial) DEAD SEA, Jordan – March 23, 2014 – Young sportsmen and keen footballers from the Dead Sea can now practice their football moves, tackles and goal scoring abilities on a new football pitch in Al-Sweimeh area – courtesy of a collaboration between King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre managed by Hilton ("KHBTCC") and INJAZ, a national NGO that aims, inspires and prepares youth to become productive members of their society and accelerate the development of the national economy

The two organizations have worked closely together to renovate an existing amenity to create a new football pitch and local sports facility. The new resource, which took four months to bring up to standard, has been warmly welcomed by the local Al-Sweimeh community, particularly the nearby local boys school

The project was made possible with a grant from Hilton Worldwide's CSR strategy initiative, 'Travel With Purpose', which recognizes and supports activities in those local communities in which the company operates. In addition to the new football pitch, team members from Hilton KHBTCC also joined students from the school to help landscape the surrounding area with new trees.

A special inauguration ceremony was held to mark the official opening of the football pitch with Hilton KHBTCC team presenting Ismael Al-Amerin, Principal of Al-Sweimeh Boys School, a certificate symbolizing their ongoing commitment to the community. The official opening also included a friendly football game between Hilton KHBTCC team members and a team representing INJAZ.

Kamel Ajami, Hilton Worldwide country manager – Jordan, commented: "I am delighted we were able to lend a helping hand with this long-awaited community facility. Today's celebration paints a perfect picture of our team's commitment towards the local community and I am very pleased we are now reaping the fruits of our on-going collaboration with INJAZ.

Muhannad Jarrah, executive director, for the Skills Building Program at INJAZ said: "This project took our partnership with Hilton KHBTCC to a new level and our respective team members have now created a real connection with the local community. We hope the provision of this new amenity will bring rewards for many years to come.
