Nawaz To Attend 3rd Nuclear Security Summit In The Hague


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will take part in the third Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) in The Hague from March 24-25, 2014. According to a press release from the Foreign Office, the premier will be accompanied by the special assistant to the prime minister Syed Tariq Fatemi and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry. Nawaz is expected to address the summit on March 24, and as a keynote speaker at a meeting on the future of the NSS process on March 25



He is expected to enumerate the measures implemented by Pakistan to ensure safety and security of its nuclear facilities and materials at these meetings. The premier is also expected to seek non-discriminatory access to nuclear technology for peaceful uses, including nuclear power generation. On the sidelines of the Nuclear Summit, the Prime Minster is likely to hold bilateral meetings with some world leaders, the release said.



The NSS is expected to be attended by leaders from 53 countries and the United Nations, European Union, International Atomic Energy Agency and Interpol. The Summit aims to promote nuclear security through voluntary national actions and international cooperation. The First Nuclear Security Summit was held in Washington in April 2010. The Second Summit was held in Seoul in March 2012
