(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) The State of Qatar has stressed the need for concerted national and international efforts in realizing the right to education as one of the fundamental rights of persons with disabilities and the need to develop appropriate mechanisms to follow up the progress made in this matter. This came in a speech delivered by Noor Al Sada, the second secretary at the Permanent Mission of Qatar's Permanent Mission in Geneva, at the Human Rights Council at its 25th session during a panel discussion about the rights of persons with disabilities in education, within the framework of item No. (3) of the agenda session. Al Sada noted that the State of Qatar is not far from the efforts of the international community in the realization of the right to education, especially for people with disabilities, and in this regard the State has continued its efforts to ensure the enrollment of all segments of society to education by taking a number of actions and measures, referring to the National Strategy for Education and Training sector 2011-2016, which included programs for expanding accommodation of students in education, and support for students with disabilities and their integration in schools and to provide the right team to take care of them by providing appropriate education for them, and to develop an electronic system for tracking students to ensure their continuity in the educational system. Al Sada added that in the context of strengthening international cooperation to support the right to education as an essential foundation for the advancement of societies, HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) launched in 2012 a global initiative aimed at reducing the numbers of children who lost their right to education in all parts of the world as a result of conflicts, wars and natural disasters, as well as children living in urban slums or remote rural areas, and categories that can face special challenges for education, such as girls, the disabled and minoritie
