(MENAFN - Arab Times) Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali accepted the invitation extended by former MP Attorney Ahmad Al-Shahoumi to his diwaniya in Salwa where he answered all questions that were addressed to him

His acceptance of the invitation was in line with the instructions issued by the Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid and Undersecretary Lt General Sulaiman Al-Fahad to bolster communication with citizens to settle their problems

Regarding the controversy about Al- Mabrouk Taxi, Major General Al-Ali said his father had inherited the license of the taxi, adding that he had given his share to his younger brothers, which was published in the official gazette

He added, "It is not logical to deprive my brothers of their trade because I am a police officer". He stressed that the traffic officers apply law impartially and issue citations against taxis that violate the law. He indicated that the traffic sector seized 570 taxis and issued thousands of citations against those that violated the traffic law

Major General Al-Ali revealed that the Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al- Khalid is studying a proposal to cancel the fines of traffic violations of those individuals who do not commit any violation in a year

He stressed that such a step negates the rumors about fines being a source of income for the ministry, adding, "None of the directors including myself have the right to cancel any citation issued against any individual

Only the Kuwaiti judiciary and Minister of Interior have the right to do so". Major General Al-Ali explained that the cameras installed near traffic signals are highly efficient speed cameras that can record the number of those vehicles that cross the red signal or exceed the speed limit
