Land Rover Oman hosts second act of Extreme Sailing Series


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Eleven of the World's very best sailing teams take to the azure waters off Oman today for four days of high-octane racing in the second act of the award-winning Extreme Sailing Series.


The global circuit, which is supported around the world by Land Rover as a Series Main Partner, will see 11 professional sailing teams racing Stadium style in identical Extreme 40 catamarans, just metres from the shoreline at the Almouj Golf Club, Muscat.


The starting grid features a world-class line up including the greatest sailing Olympian of all times four times Gold medallist Sir Ben Ainslie, French round the world sailing supremo, Franck Cammas and America's Cup hero Dean Barker. In addition, there are two elite-level Omani teams, Oman Air, skippered by Rob Greenhalgh and joined by Hashim al Rashdi and Musab al Hadi and The Wave, Muscat, the only team to have won the Series twice, skippered by Leigh McMillan and featuring Nasser Al Mashari on the bow.

It promises to be a thrilling four days and we wish all the teams good winds for a fair battle on the water.''

Each day from March 20-22, the public is invited to come and watch the racing from the shores of the Almouj Golf Club and visit the Race Village, where myriad of free attractions catering to all tastes will be available for the public to enjoy. Besides watching the sailing action, the public can take to the water with free ‘Try Sailing' taster sessions; enjoy the Red Bull Skate Park; watch a five-a-side football tournament; experience the Land Rover Experiential Zone; turn their hand to some ‘Try Golf' opportunities and countless other activities for all the family including banana boats, canoes and stand-up paddle boards.


The Race Village will open at 10am and racing will begin at 2pm. For those not able to attend in person, the Stadium Racing will be broadcast live around the world and streamed online at the www.extremesailingser
