(MENAFN -Khaleej Times) lulu guinness, an iconic british brand for ultra-stylish handbags and eye-catching accessories, is planning to open its first uae boutique store in dubai this year, its top official says

Paul spinks says the company posted good double-digit sales growth in 2013.

This new retail space, first in middle east, will resemble the lulu guinness london store in terms of brand identity and offer all collections for the first time in the region.

“we are looking to open a store in dubai hopefully this year,” lulu guinness managing director paul spinks told khaleej times during ‘great week uae’.

The iconic british brand, which has presence in us, japan and thailand, was launched in 1989 as a handbag and accessories retailer and today has become a leading name in the fashion industry. its products also showcase in world’s most prestigious department stores, from selfridges and fortnum and mason in the uk to luisa via roma in italy, harvey nichols dublin and galleries lafayette china.

The brand, which looks set to make dubai foray later this year, is keen to expand its presence across the gulf region. “certainly, we feel our collections can be successful across all gulf states,” spinks said.

About the competitive dubai’s retail sector, he said dubai is extremely competitive with the majority of global brands being distributed in amazing environments.

“we feel our brand offers something unique and differentiated. we position ourselves as a conceptual iconic british brand. the personality and mischievous element of the product can’t go unmissed having lulu guinness herself at the forefront of the design team.”

To a question about the speciality of lulu guinness stores and products, he said: “our retail spaces worldwide maintain the globally distinctive lulu guinness brand identity with a black and white colour scheme, and a hint of the her signature red hue. this complements the product within the store allowing the bags to take centre stage. each store showcases the latest collection alongside classic signature designs incorporating the lulu guinness trademark red lips!.”

Spinks was positive about the brand’s performance in first quarter and outlook for 2014 and said the group expects a good time ahead.

“we have had a positive start to the year, especially our stripe collection, and hopefully this bodes well for the rest of the year,” he said.

About the sales growth in 2014, he said the group is expected to sustain its performance this year.

“we had good double-digit sales growth in 2013 with exceptional growth in wholesale, international and web, and we are optimistic that we will attain similar growth in 2014,” spinks concluded.
