(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Qatargas Monday announced its partnership with Qatar Cancer Society in raising awareness about cancer, giving a boost to its fight against cancer and efforts to save lives. As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives in the field of health, Qatargas has made a financial contribution towards producing a television commercial and an awareness film on cancer by QCS under the title: "Generosity is its Own Reward." Commenting on Qatargas' support to QCS in the fight against cancer, Dr. Osama Ibrahim, Chief Medical Officer, Qatargas, said: "At Qatargas we are happy to join hands with Qatar Cancer Society in their endeavours to help generate awareness about cancer in the State of Qatar. We are hopeful that our partnership with QCS, along with other corporate donors, will help alter perceptions of cancer, encourage prevention and early detection of this disease and ultimately save lives. As part of our ongoing corporate social responsibility programme in the field of health, we are optimistic that this initiative will contribute in a positive manner to ensure a better and brighter future for all the people whose lives have been affected by cancer." Speaking on the occasion, Dr. AbdulAzim Abdulwahab Hussain, Vice Chairman of the Qatar Cancer Society, said: "On behalf of Qatar Cancer Society, I would like to thank Qatargas for participating in the national fight against cancer. Statistics show that cancer is on the increase in Qatar and across the Middle East. This underscores the significance of launching a joint and broad-based awareness programme that not only seeks to address the existing situation, but places much more focus on prevention methods.
