Oman has lots of potential in tourism Omran CEO

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman has lots of tourism potential which needs to be tapped properly, said Eng Wael al Lawati, CEO, Omran.

Eng Lawati was speaking at the inaugural session of The BIG Show exhibition and the Oman Future Buildings Conference on Monday.

''Muscat is rich in natural beauty and it is up to us whether we want to hone it and convert it into a piece of exquisite jewel or leave it unattended. And, we have decided to turn it around,'' Eng Lawati said in his opening remarks.

While speaking about the areas that have growth potential, he said, ''If we talk about tourism, which has lots of potential, we need to address issues raised by domestic tourists who say that everything in the tourism sector has been planned keeping in mind the entertainment needs of foreign tourists.

''If we look at the tourism sector the involvement of Omanis are also not very encouraging. There is so much that we can do which will benefit the sector as well as the country. We are planning big for this sector. People in Oman don't have many recreational avenues. We have acknowledged this and working to improve it.

''There will be theme parks, water parks and Imax cinema. There will be hotels which will have a dedicated children's corner. Plans have already been worked out and we are moving ahead keeping the needs of domestic tourist in mind.'
