(MENAFN Press) Muscat-A Telezone set up at COMEX 2014 under the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), the implementing authority of the Sultanate's telecommunications policies, along with Omantel and Nawras will highlight the TRA initiative for establishing 200 telecom towers sites at 250 villages. There will be 4 main Telezone stations- the 1st station will highlight the initiative, the 2nd station will indicate the quality of telecom services on an area-wise basis, the 3rd station will inform visitors on the steps to choose the right telecom package and the 4th station will showcase the telecom benchmark-basically where the telecom sector is at the moment and plans for improvement.

"As TRA is becoming consumer-centric, we are focusing more on providing enough information to users and consumers of telecom services. TRA is promoting its communication centre to educate consumers about their rights and providing self services/ approach for complaint management systems. Our TRA participation this year has diversified to include major initiatives that indicate the growth of the telecom sector at this time. TRA is also becoming the authority to regulate postal services, a number of 12 operators currently accredited as official providers. The postal services station will be presented during COMEX 2014" says Mr. Hilal O. Al Siyabi, International Relations & Media Manager, TRA.

Besides the Telezone, TRA has 4 exciting solutions for visitors at COMEX 2014. TRA is planning to have a live setup of a TRA call centre at COMEX 2014, where visitors may file complaints, pursue follow-ups and receive the assistance of an actual TRA call centre station. TRA will hold sessions to explain the concept of Electro magnetic fields with regard to telecom towers to calm on-growing concern over radiation from telecom towers causing health issues to people living near these transmitters. In an attempt to highlight the importance of using original devices, TRA will also bring in original products and counterfeit products asking customers to distinguish between the two while explaining the need to support original telecom products. From this year onwards postal services will be controlled by TRA who will elaborate on the complaint process and the ways in which TRA can aid the public with regard to postal services.

As for the business sector, TRA has 3 exciting solutions. Recently business organizations who have registered with TRA have been granted licenses to sell the Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) and In-Vehicle Monitoring Systems. TRA will also discuss a new advance Automated Frequency Management System, which will provide various Radio and Spectrum, services to businesses. With regard to TRA's business sector registration with the country code top level domain name .om and . …†, a competition was conducted among students and the results will be announced at COMEX 2014.
