NRAA acquires 47 Omani documents from Sri Lanka


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA), has acquired 47 documents from the archives of Sri Lanka, dating back to 1939, pertaining to an agreement that was signed between Oman and the UK government regarding trade, navigation and bilateral relations.


NRAA is currently collecting documents and manuscripts that are of public interest from abroad, so that they can be made available for scholars and researchers in Oman. NRAA is acquiring these documents by signing Memoranda of Understanding with a number of international archives, in addition to organising seminars and exhibitions to facilitate historical research.


NRAA is liaising with agencies around the world in its search for documents that will throw light on the country's history.


The authority has also acquired thousands of documents pertaining to Oman's relations with India. It has also signed an MoU with the Cambridge Document Office to acquire documents available in Britain.
