Two drown as rains hit several parts of Oman


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Two persons have died and another is reported missing following heavy rains on Sunday, according to a Twitter feed by the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA).


An Omani man and a Pakistani expatriate drowned and their bodies were recovered from Wadi al Qasam near the Al Manakhir village in the wilayat of Nizwa.


The missing person, reported as a 27 year old Omani man, was last seen near the A'Shakhra area on Saturday night in the wilayat of Dima Wa al Taien, and was missing until 5pm on Sunday, according to a PACDA official.


The official said that eight divers from PACDA were called to locate the missing person, and search was suspended on Sunday evening. ''Twenty divers will resume the search on Monday morning.''


In Muscat, light rains fell in the wilayats of Seeb, Bausher, Muscat and Amerat. In Dakhliyah, moderate rains fell in the villages of Nizwa, and light rains fell in the niyabat of Jebel Akhdar.


Moderate rains fell in some villages of the wilayat of Bahla while light rains fell in the wilayat of Al Hamra. In South Sharqiyah, light rains fell in the niyabat of Tiwi in the wilayat of Sur.


Meanwhile, three persons died and four others required rescue over the weekend as heavy rains in parts of the sultanate led to the overflowing of wadis.


The bodies of two persons were recovered in Madha by civil defence personnel, while the body of a woman was recovered in Al Wajaja.
