(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Directorate General for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances recently arrested four persons in separate incidents in North Batinah for possessing and trafficking drugs.
One of the accused was arrested near the Falaj al Qabayl roundabout in Sohar. Based on his statement, the ROP arrested another person and seized 225 capsules of heroin.
Officials also arrested a person from Suwaiq on charges of possessing hashish and heroin.
In yet another incident, an infiltrator was arrested in the wilayat of Khabourah on charges of possessing 18,200 pills of tramadol and 15 capsules of hashish.
All four have been referred to the Public Prosecution.

Three jailed for stealing from ATMs in Oman; two caught for bank data theftThe Primary Court in Muscat has convicted three expatriates for stealing money from ATMs and sentenced them to three years in jail followed by deportation. They were also fined RO10,000.
The ROP, represented by the Directorate for Combating Economic Crimes affiliated to the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations, had arrested the men last year after receiving a call from a bank on illegal withdrawal of cash from customers' accounts.
Officials arrested two of the men while they were trying to leave the country via Muscat International Airport.
One of the men was carrying 100 plastic cards, data transfer equipment and a camera, while the other was carrying a data reader, wires, two laptops and a memory storage device.
The third man involved in the case was also arrested last year from a hotel in Al Khuwayr and referred to the Public Prosecution. During investigation, officials found that the criminals had installed devices and cameras at the bank's ATMs to steal money.
In another incident involving theft of bank data, the Primary Court in Nizwa sentenced two Europeans to one year in prison and imposed a fine of RO2,000 each. The court also ordered their deportation.
The case was cracked by sleuths at the Directorate of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations in Dakhliyah and the Directorate for Combating Economic Crimes.
The two had installed data copying devices and cameras at ATMs of several banks to steal data of customers' accounts. The accused were arrested before they could use or send the data to cyberthieves abroad.

82 infiltrators arrested in Oman; 93 deportedThe ROP, in collaboration with other military and security departments, arrested 82 infiltrators of different nationalities last week. These arrests were made in different wilayats.
Also, 93 infiltrators have been deported after completion of necessary legal procedures in coordination with their respective embassies.
