Standing in her way is Jessica Lindell-Vikarby, who currently tops the giant slalom standings, but only has a narrow 14-point lead over Fenninger
Lindell-Vikarby would become just the second Swede in World Cup history to win the giant slalom title, after Anja Parson, but it is Fenninger who holds the momentum coming into the race
The 24-year-old has won the last three giant slalom World Cup races, and a fourth straight win would be enough to guarantee her more silverware
If Fenninger does fail to collect the giant slalom globe, however, she will claim a rather more dubious honour
She has already finished second in the season standings in the downhill and super-G, and another runner-up place in the giant slalom would see her become the first woman in World Cup history to finish second in three of the four single discipline standings
Elsewhere, the World Cup says farewell to one of the best gate skiers in modern history, as Tanja Poutiainen competes in her final race
The Finn has twice won the giant slalom globe, and once collected the slalom title, and she also claimed an Olympic silver medal in the giant slalom in Turin in 2006

The Italian has 16 World Cup podiums to her name, all in giant slalom, with six of those being victories
