Ireland's ESB profit up 23 percent in 2013


(MENAFN) Irish energy giant ESB said that its post-tax profit in 2013 hit USD577 million, increasing 23 percent from the year before it, Xinhua reported



The firm said that its profit increase was mainly driven by higher revenue and payroll savings of around USD71 million



ESB Chairman said: "Despite difficult economic conditions and increasing competition, these results reflect a very solid performance across the group.



ESB operates seven thermal power stations and 10 hydro stations in Ireland, and has over USD16.6 billion, making it the leading electricity utility in the country
