(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) H E Hamood bin Sangour al Zadjali, executive president, Central Bank of Oman (CBO), received Dr Valiollah Seif, governor, Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran (CBI), and the accompanying delegation this morning as part of the official visit of the Iranian President Dr Hassan Rouhani to Oman.
Both sides discussed banking issues of interest to the two countries and ways of supporting the existing mutual banking relations as well as the facilitation of banking transactions in the upcoming period. In addition, both sides looked into the status of the two Iranian banks operating in Muscat “ Bank Melli Iran and Bank Saderat Iran.
H E Zadjali said that all local banks have been directed to form collaboration with Iranian banks in relation to the ATM network and other banking transactions.
The Iranian delegation showed interest in learning about the payment systems that CBO works with, noting its intent to organise a visit for the Iranian banking delegation to get familiarised with Oman's banking experience and the systems that Omani banks work with.
Dr Seif invited H E Zadjali to visit Tehran and meet with CBI officials to encourage collaboration between the Omani and the Iranian banking sectors.
